The strap is wider than most and spreads the load nicely. The width also helps prevent the strap twisting. The overlapping tension mechanism is easier to use and more robust than the cam types, especially with cold and tired fingers after a few hours winging.
The D ring is so much better than the cam buckles. I wish you would make the tailgate pad with the D ring strap again.
