INNOVATION / TRADITION / PERFORMANCE

Drawing from the revolutionary H4 fin project, we’ve worked with Mick Fanning to apply the state-of-the-art template and foil profiles to a new twin fin that strikes the perfect balance between speed, hold and release.

Innovation

Template: The hatchet-like tip produces instantaneous acceleration from take-off to bottom turn and creates a feeling of stability when pushing through turns. The wide, thick base is tuned for rigidity & maximum driving power. The smaller stabiliser fin mimics the side fin template and serves to control the set by eliminating any feeling of unpredictability while allowing you to release the tail at the desired moments.

Foil: With a focus on speed, the contemporary foils on the side fins significantly reduces drag and introduces flex in the upper half of the fin precisely where it’s needed.

Tradition
Historically, the twin fin has proven to be a key pillar in the evolution of fin and surfboard performance. The design that took Mark Richards to an unprecedented 4 x World Titles has made a resurgence and doesn’t look like going anywhere soon. Twins feel fast, loose, and best of all, offer an unrestricted and exciting feel.

With this project we integrated design features from the revolutionary H4 Thruster and applied them to a unique twin fin set that can be used with twin specific models as well as grovellers and hybrid designs. Pairing the MF Twin to a Hybrid or Groveller will achieve an entirely new feel from the same board.

Performance
Having been deeply involved in the development of the original H4 Tri and Quad sets, Mick Fanning played an integral role in the creation of the MF Twin. Now off tour, and with a desire to explore new equipment, Mick dove headfirst into this project. After riding different iterations of the side and stabiliser templates we landed on a twin set that looks and performs like no other.

“I’ve recently gotten right into twin fins; it’s been super refreshing!”

“With a twin set up you’re going to get a smooth ride. These MF Twins will keep it loose off the tail, and once you move your weight forward, they’ll produce plenty of drive, and if you want to do long arching turns, or drive up into the lip, you’re going to get that hold as well”.

The other thing you’ll notice compared to other twins, at the last part of the turn where a regular twin fin will skip out or release too quickly, the MF Twin will hold and control the slide”.
